Beneficial nutrients in cacao

Cacao can become a daily personal ritual or a special, festive ceremony. The sweet and loving energy of cacao will help you to open your heart, release your emotions, strengthen your health and draw creative inspiration. Cacao contains plenty of health benefits:

  • Theobromine: hence the scientific name of the cacao tree - theobroma cacao. Theobromine has been shown to lower blood pressure, raise good HDL cholesterol and improve lung function, cerebral blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain, as well as being an antioxidant that effectively reduces inflammation.

  • Tryptophan: essential amino acid and precursor of serotonin. Serotonin is well known for its ability to combat stress and improve mood, sleep, relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety and regulate pain thresholds.

  • Phenylethylamine (PEA): this is a compound that our brain naturally releases when we fall in love. PEA stimulates the central nervous system and helps to release the body's natural opiate-like compounds called endorphins.

  • Anandamide: an endogenous cannabinoid found naturally in cacao and the human brain. It helps protect the body against stress-induced psychiatric illnesses such as depression, anxiety and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

  • Antioxidants: flavonoids, polyphenols, epicatechin: all have anti-inflammatory properties and help the body to scavenge free radicals, as well as improving blood circulation.

  • Fibre: improves digestion and helps maintain a healthy gut.

  • Different dosages
